Who doesn’t know them – the traditional, green, long winter coats that have been worn by generations of a, mostly aristocratic, clientèle and attributed to noble society.
Loden has always been known to be indestructible, to guarantee longlivety, protection, and to keep you warm – as yesterday so today. Loden is a very special kind of fabric that braves the weather in all its forms.

Ly-Ling Vilaysane, the designer behind aéthérée, has reinterpreted loden and created a model that represents the new awareness of life in the most perfect way. Uncomplicated, suited for every-day use, smart casual and practical. A model for a long-lasting love: Not only during the next season, but for the next decade.

The name of our model is “Akoshua”. The style is very close-to-body, it closes twice so that no draught of air will disturb the cosy warmth it gives. Big, wonderful pockets to keep your hands nice and warm; the fabrics is made of pure loden that comes in a wonderful, deep blue, a sporty grey or in a classical black. Lined with heavy black silk.

The opening of the aéthérée boutique in St. Gallen topped all expectations! People from far and wide were excited to see, feel and experience the critically acclaimed pieces of young fashion designer Ly-Ling Vilaysane. For some impressions of the opening, watch the video!

The “Mushroom” collection is a symbol of the hidden connection that exists between all of us. The fungus on the grassland appears to be an independent matter, but under the surface it has a wide network that connects it with everything. The visible fungus is only a small part of a larger picture.

The theme of connection has been implemented by including smocked details. Shirts with extremely long sleeves symbolize handing out the hands to the people.

“We have to overcome the divisions that drive us apart. If we want to overcome the current crises, we need to work together as mankind in new ways.” Says Ly-Ling Vilaysane. The collection was produced in Switzerland.

The aéthérée Fashion Show, which took place on Friday 27th April, proved to be a great success! The Pfalzkeller venue in St. Gallen was completely full with guests. aéthérée presented The Summer collection 2012 and the Winter collection 2012/13, combined with trendy eyewear from Külling Optik and stunning jewellery from Gabriela Frei. Jin Coiffeure and Rolf Stehr Make-Up styled and made the models look extravagant. Hypo Landesbank Vorarlberg St Gallen sponsored the event.

“Every day people call me to congratulate me for the great show. To be honest, I didn’t expect such positive feedback”, says Designer Ly-Ling Vilaysane.

“It wouldn’t be possible to organize such a big event without an amazing team. I had more than 50 people working with me, and the whole team worked together like a big family. I’m so grateful, words are not enough to express how I feel!”

The Spring Summer Collection 2012 «Magic Romance» symbolizes the dream of a new era in which people find a new meaning of togetherness.

With the unique mixture of fabrics and materials, which vary in their contrasting features, Ly-Ling strives to represent the current imbalance in the world: “It was very experimental combining thick cotton-stretch fabric with silk. However, through this attempt, I have finally found the style that I always wanted to convey. It’s not always easy to do things differently, but it’s the only way that makes development possible.”

Ly-Ling says: “To me my entire life is a learning process. And the insights I get from my life always become visible in my collections. Wonderland means to me that everything is possible. At least more and more things that seemed to be impossible a few years ago became real when I was working on this collection.”

Every fashion designer knows about those phases in which you close the doors of your atelier for weeks, because you’re working so passionate that you forget everything around you. It is a magic feeling when your work gives you so much joy that everything else doesn’t matter any more. But when the time of the awakening comes, it is important to open the doors of the atelier again, to look what is going on outside.

That’s why Ly-Ling makes a Open Day in her Atelier! She wants to show you where the creations of aéthérée are born and also presents the Spring/Summer collection “Bliss is Life” in her Showroom.

The Pieces of the Bliss collection are like a dream in material form.

Ly-Ling says: “This collection is a reflection of my life. It’s so colourful, frisky, easy-going and funny, that is what bliss really seems to me. 2010 opened my eyes and gave me the courage to experience with new colours, forms and prints. I used new fabrics and mixed them together. The result is what you see and I hope you feel what I felt, when I created and executed this collection.”

We are very happy to be able to share some of the pictures of the latest photo shooting with The Bliss is Life garments. May they let you feel as much bliss as we felt during our shoot!

Well, I would like to be honest here. It really was a lot of work to organize this show. Ly-Ling probably doesn’t like that i write this, but she knows herself that if she touches something, it needs to be done as perfect as possible. That’s why the whole team of aéthérée was quite busy in the days before this fashion show.

But to be even more honest, if you see smiling faces around you and if you see that your guests have a good time, then you know that it was more than worth to be busy for a little while.

Thanks to everybody! To me it really seems to be bliss, when your job is about making people happy.

Last year we were nominated for the Design Preis Schweiz. Now we have also won the Lilly award 2010, which is conferred by the Swiss fashion magazine Edelweiss and L’Oreal.

Ly-Ling would like to take this opportunity to show how grateful she is to all those wonderful people that have helped her: “I could list a whole page with names of people that helped me on this journey. It’s like life has helped me to do what I have been doing. When I have to sort out something I always meet the right person at the right time. When I design clothes I feel so much passion and joy inside me that I know that I’m on the right way. But without the people that have helped through these projects, I couldn’t be where I am. Thank you so much!”

In the beginning of the creation phase of the “There Is No Time” collection, Ly-Ling was inspired by the idea of evolution. She worked on romantic styles of the 19th Century. Coats that have their belts a little higher came into being, and also Empire dresses with meshes around the neck and tresses. Then suddenly evolution came rushing into her life. An agent has said that he’d like to present her collection in New York. To use this chance, she had to finish the collection two months earlier.

The collection is named after an insight she had during this time. The clothes represent the force of inner peace. It should help the wearer stay calm and to live to his full potential, even when life creates a storm of chaos around them.

In August 2008, aéthérée was one of the five winners of the first Shinmai Creator’s project competition in Japan. 54 Designers participated in this competition. The Jury included the President and Representative Director of Chanel in Japan, Chief Editor of the Elle Magazine Paris, the President of Issey Miyake…

In March 2009, aéthérée presented their A/W collection in Tokyo Midtown. This was one part of the price at the Shinmai Creator’s project. There’s a video of this presentation on Youtube and we are very thankful to have the possibility to share it here with you.
